Love 'em or hate 'em, speeches are here to stay, and you will be delivering two, yes two, speeches in both year 11 and 12. That's four folks. So, wouldn't it be better to be prepaaaaaaared?
Don't be a goat! Listen to some of the speeches found here on this website and check out the advice that comes along with it too!
Is there anything that you notice about Martin Luther King's speech "I have a Dream" in particular? What does he repeat? How does he make his audience feel? Does he include them? How? Think about what he is hoping for and how he presents this through his pace and volume. He's got me convinced!
How does Barack Obama's speech compare to MLK's? Think about how he includes people in the beginning of his speech. What do you notice about repetition? Where does it feature? Why?
I know, I know, Hitler was a bit of a nutter, but he was a nutter who had a whole country behind him because of the way he was able to speak at public events. Listen to him in this clip and think about how he presents his words. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone more passionate and that's what persuasive speeches are all about. You need to get the crowd involved and hanging on your every word. If Hitler can do it, so can you. Just follow some of tips found below.
